Black Sheep Brewery’s
commitment to quality ingredients, traditional production
methods, individualistic beers and a fresh, dynamic approach to
running the business have all paid dividends since the brewery
was established back in 1992. Indeed, you would be forgiven if
you thought that Black Sheep Brewery was a long-established
Dales brewery; but there again, Black Sheep Brewery was ‘born
out of five generations brewing in Masham’.
Over the last 13 years, Black Sheep Brewery has gone from
strength to strength and now not only supplies around 700
outlets throughout the North of England, but sells its cask
beers nationally through wholesalers and large pub chains.
Indeed, demand is such that new fermenting vessels and
conditioning tanks are joining the recently installed second
brewhouse at our stone-built brewery in the picturesque market
town of Masham, lower Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales.
Here’s what they said…
“Good value can mean exceptional quality and the Black Sheep
brewery stands out for this. Their excellent beers are sold
regularly by nearly a hundred of the main entries – and in three
of these, it was the cheapest beer on sale. They also have a
splendid brewery centre (in Masham, Yorkshire), with a café-bar
which serves well as a substitute pub – for the first time
included as a main entry.”
Black Sheep Brewery, Brewery of the Year 2006, The Good Pub
Guide.
Everyone at Black Sheep Brewery is delighted with this award.
“To be picked out as the Brewery of the Year by the Good Pub
Guide, the UK’s No.1 bestselling guide-book, is a wonderful
achievement for us. This has been a very exciting year for
everyone at Black Sheep Brewery with work on our second
brewhouse proceeding full steam ahead. Our commitment to brewing
quality beer for people to enjoy in good pubs has meant that
demand continues to grow each year and an award such as this
will really help raise our profile nationally.”
remarked Mr Pat Green, Sales & Marketing Director at Black Sheep
Brewery.
Incidentally, the winners of the Beer Pub of the Year
Award (The Watermill Inn at Ings near Staveley in Cumbria), and
the Inn of the Year Award (Charles Bathurst Inn,
Langthwaite, North Yorkshire) also sell Black Sheep!
